
Brushcutters / Trimmers Operator Training
COURSE AIM
This training course will teach you how to use a brushcutters / trimmers confidently, efficiently and safely and provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate and maintain brushcutters / trimmers. This is a hands-on course that delivers both practical skills and health & safety guidance.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This 2-day course is for people employed in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, and grounds maintenance who currently operates, or will be required to operate a brushcutter / trimmer.
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of the course delegates will receive a certificate of competence and for LANTRA training an accredited certificate and skills card will be awarded.

The GGM Academy 2-day LANTRA training course for brushcutters / trimmers can be carried out at our GGM training academy in Colne, Lancashire or at your premises using your own equipment:

AGENDA
- Produce a site-specific risk assessment for brushcutter / trimmer operations
- Identify the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) required
- Identify the health and safety features required on a brushcutter / trimmer
- Identify defects on the equipment and decide which the operator can remedy, and which require a service engineer’s attention
- Correctly carry out all routine maintenance in accordance with the machine manufacturer’s instruction book
- Prepare the equipment for use with the correct fuel/oil mix
- Start the brushcutter / trimmer from both hot and cold start in a safe manner
- Carry out pre-cutting checks
- State the possible hazards/risks when carrying out maintenance or operational tasks
- Maintain the brushcutter / trimmer and cutting heads in a safe and efficient working condition
- Adjust the brushcutter / trimmer for safe and comfortable operation
- Select the correct cutting head for the relevant operating conditions
- Operate the equipment having regard for the safety of the public, property and environmental factors
- Organise the site and use a systematic method of working where possible
