Pole Saw Training
COURSE AIM
The Pole Saw training course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate and maintain pole saws. This is a hands-on course that delivers both practical skills and health & safety guidance.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Our training course will suit anyone who operates a pole saw as part of your work or who is looking to be employed in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping or grounds maintenance.
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of the course delegates will receive a certificate of competence and for LANTRA training an accredited certificate and skills card will be awarded (LANTRA registration fees apply).

AGENDA
- Produce a site-specific risk assessment for pole saw operations
- Identify the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
- Identify the health and safety features required on a pole saw
- Identify defects on a pole saw and decide which the operator can remedy and which require a service engineer’s attention
- Correctly carry out all routine maintenance in accordance with the Machine manufacturer’s information and/or this workbook
- Prepare the pole saw for use with the correct fuel/oil mix
- State the possible hazards / risks when carrying out maintenance or operational tasks
- Maintain the pole saw in a safe and efficient working condition
- Adjust the pole saw for safe and comfortable operation where a harness is used
- Operate the pole saw in a safe manner, having regard for the safety of the public, property and environmental factors
- Organise the site and use a systematic method of working where possible
