COURSE AIM

This leaf blower training course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate and maintain backpack and handheld blowers. This is a hands-on course that delivers both practical skills and health & safety guidance.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Our training course will suit anyone who operates a backpack or handheld blower as part of your work or who is looking to be employed in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping or grounds maintenance.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of the course delegates will receive a certificate of competence and for LANTRA training an accredited certificate and skills card will be awarded.

AGENDA

  • Produce a site-specific risk assessment for blower operations
  • Identify the current health & safety legislation and good practice
  • Identify the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
  • Identify the health and safety features required on a blower
  • Identify defects on a blower and decide which the operator can remedy and which require a service engineer’s attention
  • Correctly carry out all routine maintenance in accordance with the Machine manufacturer’s information and/or this workbook
  • Prepare the blower for use
  • State the possible hazards / risks when carrying out maintenance or operational tasks
  • Maintain the blower in a safe and efficient working condition
  • Adjust the blower for safe and comfortable operation where a harness is used
  • Operate the blower in a safe manner, having regard for the safety of the public, property and environmental factors
  • Organise the site and use a systematic method of working where possible
